How we use AI
saldiaSearch

The fast search – rebuilt

The search box is where your customers write down, unprompted, what they want to buy. That is exactly what we rebuilt – as a window of its own with filters, and with an understanding that no longer hangs on individual letters. Included in every saldiaSearch plan.

01The search window

Full screen instead of a suggestion list

A suggestion list under the search field can be read and clicked – that is all. Anyone who is really searching wants to compare: image next to image, price next to price. So from the second character typed, the search lays itself over your shop as a window of its own, with complete product cards instead of lines of text.

  • From 2 characters
  • Grid or list
  • Result count visible
The search window lays itself over the shop: filters on the left, the result count with “show all” at the top, plus the switch between grid and list view. Every card shows image, name, SKU and price. · Click to enlarge
02Filters

Narrow down without leaving the search

Three hundred results are a list, not an answer. Instead of sending your customer to a results page for it, the narrowing down happens inside the search window itself – and the choices recalculate with every keystroke. You can no longer click your way into an empty result list.

  • Categories and brands
  • Price as a slider
  • In stock only
Only categories and brands that actually occur in the current results are shown – each with a count. Below them the price slider across the real price range and the “in stock only” filter. · Click to enlarge
03When nothing is found

Correct first, then understand

Your customers don’t type the word from your catalogue, they type the word they know: the purpose instead of the product type, the brand instead of the model, and on a phone often with a typo. Rather than failing at that, saldiaSearch first tries the spelling most likely intended – and then searches by meaning instead of by letters.

  • “Did you mean …”
  • Similar instead of no results
  • On the results page too
The typo is corrected as “did you mean schraube” – with the results right below it instead of a dead end. The cards also show what is in stock and what is available at the supplier. · Click to enlarge
04Without a search term

The search field doesn’t start from scratch

An empty search field is an exam question: what am I supposed to type here? So something is there before anyone types – the products viewed most recently, the customer’s own last searches and what others in your shop search for most. Which of those show up is your decision.

  • Recently viewed
  • Recent & popular searches
  • Individually switchable
The still-empty search window: this customer’s recent searches, the shop’s most popular terms and the items viewed most recently. This is how it looks without the saldiaSearch AI add-on. · Click to enlarge
saldiaSearch AINew · Beta

The sales assistant that knows your catalogue by heart

In a shop there is someone to help. In an online shop there is nobody – and whoever is unsure simply leaves. saldiaSearch AI takes that role in six places: it advises from your catalogue, answers questions about orders and suggests what fits. It may only name what really exists in your shop. The add-on is in beta and is enabled for your shop on request.

01In the empty search window

It picks up on the product viewed last

Anyone opening the search often doesn’t know exactly what they are after yet. So the assistant picks up on what this customer looked at last and puts matching products there – before the first letter is typed.

  • No search term needed
  • From the browser session
  • No customer account
The search field is still empty – the assistant picks up on the model viewed last and suggests three variants of it, each with price and stock status. · Click to enlarge
02In the search field

Advice where people otherwise only search

Two thousand results are not an answer to “I need screws”. In a shop, someone would ask what for. Online the assistant does that now – one click on the AI button in the search field is enough. And whoever found nothing at all is not left with an empty page: there it speaks up by itself.

  • From the second character
  • Speaks up on zero results
  • Result list stays put
The AI button sits right in the search field. The answer appears as a block above the results – here the assistant asks what the screws are needed for instead of simply throwing out 2,000 products. · Click to enlarge
03On the product page

“Question about this product?”

Most questions come up not in the search field but just before the buy button: does this fit my model? Is there one size up? That is exactly where a line now opens the chat – with the product already part of the conversation. Compatibility is answered from the links you maintain, not from a hunch.

  • Product in context
  • Compatibility from your links
  • Answers with product cards

Instead of “out of stock” and a notify-me field, three deliverable alternatives appear right below – with image, price and add-to-basket button. · Click to enlarge
04Out of stock

Alternatives when a product is out of stock

A product with no stock is usually where the visit ends: no buy button, a notify-me field, and off they go. The assistant puts three deliverable alternatives from your catalogue exactly there. What was an abandoned purchase becomes a choice again.

  • Only what’s really available
  • Straight into the basket
  • No popup
05In the basket

What really goes with the choice made

In a shop this is the moment someone says: “for the motorbike you also need tyres and a battery.” Online that now happens in the basket – not as a popup on top, but as part of the page, with a reason instead of a bare list. What is already in there, the assistant does not recommend again.

  • Knows the basket
  • Explains the recommendation
  • In the page, not on top
For the motorbike in the basket the assistant recommends supermoto tyres, a matching battery and headlights – and writes down why. Every product with price and add-to-basket button. · Click to enlarge
Order number and e-mail are enough – the assistant replies with shipping status and tracking number. The details in this image were replaced with sample values for publication. · Click to enlarge
06Order status

“Where is my order?”

“Where is my order?” is the question your support answers most often and enjoys least. The assistant takes it over: logged-in customers straight away, guests with order number and e-mail. Status, date and tracking number are all it ever gets to see.

  • Guests too
  • Read-only
  • Takes load off support

Everything included. One login.

Type, find, buy – from the second letter on. With filters right inside the search window and a search that finds matching products even for unfamiliar terms. New on top: saldiaSearch AI, the assistant that answers your customers’ questions from your real catalogue.

The new search window

The suggestion list becomes a search window of its own: large, fast and with no page change at all.

Search opens as a window of its own above your shop as soon as two characters are typed – not already on clicking into the field.

Two characters in and the matching products are there. No waiting, no new page.

Your customers switch between image grid and compact list; you set the default separately for desktop and mobile.

Image, name, price, SKU and stock status on every card – at a resolution that stays sharp on retina displays.

Arrow keys move through the results, Enter opens the product.

Full screen, filters behind a button with a counter, and a fixed “show products” button at the bottom edge.

The search state lives in the URL. Back closes the search instead of leading out of the shop.

Frequently searched terms are animated into and out of the search field one after another, inviting customers to search.

Filtering right in the search field

Narrow down without leaving the search – category, brand, price and availability right inside the search window.

Only the ones that actually occur in the current results are shown – each with a count.

Across the real price range of the products found, not across a fixed scale.

One click hides everything that isn’t available right now.

What isn’t on your own shelf but can be delivered is shown separately instead of as “unavailable”.

The choices adapt with every keystroke. There is no filter combination that leads to zero results.

Active filters are counted and can be cleared with a single click.

Finds what isn’t written word for word

When the keyword search finds nothing, saldiaSearch searches by meaning instead of by letters.

Instead of “no results”, the closest products from your catalogue appear under “similar results for …”.

The likely intended spelling is tried first (“did you mean …”), and only then the search by meaning.

At a Swiss specialist retailer with around 335,000 items, the share of searches without a result fell from over 8 % to practically zero in the first ten days after the switch; a second shop confirms this independently. A dated snapshot from the beta phase – not a guarantee for other catalogues.

Not only in the search window, but also on the search and category pages of your shop.

The meaning analysis of your products runs on our own Swiss infrastructure. Your product data goes to no external service for it.

saldiaSearch AI (beta)

An assistant that answers questions – exclusively with products from your real catalogue. Currently in beta, enabled for your shop on request.

Appears from the second character. The answer shows above the results; the result list stays put.

Exactly when your customer would otherwise give up – once per query. Never on a successful search.

A discreet line on the product page opens the chat with the product already in context.

Answers come with image, price and an add-to-basket button.

Compatibility questions are answered from the spare-part and accessory links you maintain – not guessed.

Logged-in customers directly, guests via order number and e-mail. Strictly read-only: status, date, tracking.

Shipping costs, return periods, opening hours: a free-text field in the backend the assistant answers from.

Only products the search found beforehand can be suggested – invented articles are ruled out technically.

The conversation lives only in the browser session and is gone when the tab closes.

The assistant answers in the language your customer writes in.

saldiaSearch AI: recommendations

Matching products where the question comes up – inside the page, not in a popup on top of it.

When a product is not in stock, deliverable alternatives appear right where the buy button is missing.

What goes with the current selection appears in the basket itself – and never what is already in it.

Before anything is typed, based on the products last viewed.

Nothing opens by itself. Recommendations appear as part of the page, never as a layer above it.

Click rate, add-to-basket rate and basket value per placement – in your shop’s backend.

Precise yet forgiving

saldiaSearch adapts to the query: exact for precise terms, broad for fuzzy ones.

Search with a precise term like the SKU and saldiaSearch returns exactly the right product.

For fuzzy queries saldiaSearch generously shows matching products instead of returning nothing.

Even with typos and imprecise spelling, saldiaSearch finds what was meant.

Results are sorted by relevance – the most likely matches appear at the top.

The search field doesn’t start from scratch

Opening the search offers places to start instead of an empty field.

The products last looked at appear as image chips – from the browser session, with no customer account involved.

What this customer searched for last is one click away again.

Frequent search terms from your shop as an entry point – only those that actually returned results.

Popular categories and terms as clickable chips, so customers get there without typing.

You decide block by block what the empty search window shows. On mobile the chips wrap instead of disappearing sideways.

Show the SKU in the results and decide whether products without a price are shown or hidden.

The search window picks up your shop’s accent colour automatically; colours and corner radius stay freely adjustable.

Search weighting per field

You decide how strongly each piece of product data counts in search.

Define how strongly product name, SKU, category, brand and attributes count in search.

By default the product name carries the most weight – so the most obvious matches come first.

Set a weight of 0 to remove a field from search entirely – e.g. a long product description.

Change the weighting whenever you like and dial in the best setup for your catalogue.

Custom keywords per product

Enrich individual products with extra search terms – even if they appear nowhere in the text.

Store terms like 'summer' so a product is found even when the word appears in neither name nor description.

Link products to the words your customers actually search for – independent of the official product data.

Make products discoverable via promo or seasonal terms like 'Christmas' or 'sale'.

Catch alternative spellings, synonyms and the colloquial terms your customers use.

Finds related products & spare parts

saldiaSearch knows the relationships in your catalogue and finds parts via the main product, too.

A part linked to a main product is found even when the main product's name doesn't appear on the part at all.

A tyre assigned as a spare part to the 'VW Golf 3' appears for the search 'tyres VW Golf' – via category and link.

saldiaSearch combines a part's category with its link to the main product to surface the right match.

Works for any kind of related part you assign to a main product.

Scalable & deeply integrated

saldiaSearch stays fast even with huge catalogues and sets itself up fully automatically.

saldiaSearch is built for speed and stability – even very large catalogues stay lightning-fast to search.

Even with more than 300,000 items. Measured at the server across the largest catalogue in operation – this is not a guaranteed response time.

Because the search is deeply integrated, search and shop benefit from the performance together.

Just activate: we create the saldiaSearch account and sync all products – done in around 10–20 minutes.

Your product data is continuously synced with saldiaSearch so the search is always up to date.

Price, stock and text changes flow into the index continuously. There is no nightly index run for the catalogue to lag behind.

When an item sells out it disappears from the “in stock” filter immediately – without anyone having to save it by hand.

Customer groups and prices are passed signed by the server and cannot be tampered with from the browser.

Frequently asked questions

What is saldiaSearch?
saldiaSearch is a lightning-fast search service for online shops. It turns your shop's search field into an autocomplete: as soon as a customer types at least two characters, matching products appear. saldiaSearch is precise for exact terms like the SKU and generous for vague queries – and stays fast even with very large catalogues.
What is new in saldiaSearch since summer 2026?
The search has a completely new interface: a full-screen search window with filters by category, brand, price and availability right in the search field, without your customer leaving the page. If the classic keyword search finds nothing, a semantic search steps in and shows related products instead of an empty page. And new – currently in beta – an AI shopping assistant answers questions directly in the shop, with products from your real catalogue. On top of that there are two new analytics pages in the backend and a real-time index in which price and stock changes are searchable immediately.
Can my customers filter the search results?
Yes, right inside the search window – with no page change. Available are categories and brands (only those that actually occur in the current results, each with a count), a price slider across the real price range of the results, plus the filters “in stock only” and “available at the supplier”. The filter values are recalculated with every keystroke, so there is no filter combination that leads to zero results. Active filters are counted and can be reset with one click.
What happens when a search finds nothing?
First saldiaSearch tries the spelling most likely intended – your customer sees “did you mean …” and gets the results for the corrected query. If that doesn’t help either, the semantic search steps in: it understands the query by meaning rather than literally and shows the closest products from your catalogue under “similar results for …”. At a Swiss specialist retailer with around 335,000 items, the share of searches without a result fell from over 8 % to practically zero in the first ten days after the switch – a dated snapshot from August 2026, not a guarantee for other catalogues. On top of that, the backend shows you at any time which queries still found nothing.
What can the AI shopping assistant do – and what not?
It advises from your catalogue (“what goes with …”), answers compatibility questions from the spare-part and accessory links you maintain, gives logged-in customers – and guests with order number and e-mail – information about their order status, shows alternatives to items that are not in stock, and answers from the shop knowledge you enter in the backend yourself: shipping, returns, opening hours. What it does not do: name products that do not exist. It may only name what the search actually found. It also never opens as a popup by itself. The assistant is currently in beta, switched off by default, and can be enabled for your shop on request.
Is my customers’ data passed on to an AI?
The assistant sets no cookies, builds no user profile and needs no customer account: the conversation lives only in the browser session and is gone when the tab closes. The meaning analysis behind the semantic search runs on our own Swiss infrastructure – your product data goes to no external service for it. For the chat answers themselves we work with a specialised language-model service; only what is needed for the answer is transmitted: the question and the product data found for it. For analytics we count anonymously which recommendation was shown, clicked or added to the basket – product ID and event, no personal IDs. Conversation logs are kept for 90 days, recommendation events for 60 days, after which they are deleted automatically.
How is saldiaSearch activated?
You activate saldiaSearch with one click in the saldiaApps of your saldiaShop. The onboarding is fully automatic: we create your saldiaSearch account and sync all products. After around 10–20 minutes the new search works – with no technical setup at all.
Does saldiaSearch also find spare parts and accessories?
Yes – and it's one of saldiaSearch's strengths. If a spare part, tuning part or accessory is linked to a main product, saldiaSearch knows that relationship. Example: a tyre is assigned as a spare part to the 'VW Golf 3', even though 'VW Golf' appears neither in the tyre's name nor its description. If a customer searches for 'tyres VW Golf', saldiaSearch still finds the tyre – via the category and the product link.
Can I tune the search to my catalogue?
Yes. You define the weighting per field yourself – for example how strongly product name, SKU, category, brand, features, search words or description count toward relevance. Fields can be excluded from search entirely with a weight of 0. You can also give each product its own search words (e.g. 'summer'), so it is found even when the word doesn't appear in the name or description at all.
Does saldiaSearch work with very large catalogues?
Yes. saldiaSearch answers in a few dozen milliseconds – even with more than 300,000 items, measured at the server across the largest catalogue in operation. That is not a guaranteed response time, but the order of magnitude the search works in. Because it is deeply integrated into the shop, search and shop get faster overall.
How much does saldiaSearch cost?
saldiaSearch starts at CHF 49 per month (easyBasic, up to 5,000 products). easyPlus is CHF 79 per month (5,000–25,000 products) and easyPremium CHF 99 per month (25,000–50,000 products). For even larger catalogues there is Enterprise with a custom quote on request.
Which shops does saldiaSearch work with?
saldiaSearch is deeply integrated into saldiaShop – in easyShops as well as Enterprise shops – and can be activated directly in the saldiaApps.
